So let me tell you a little bit about me.
It all started with telling stories…
Born in Edmonton, Alberta, I began my writing journey volunteering for the University of Alberta’s student magazine, The Gateway, where I wrote for every section, including arts & culture, sports, news and opinion. I also took photos. In 2017-18, I worked as the managing editor in the last year of my bachelor’s degree in English. In November 2021, I graduated with a master’s degree in journalism from Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario.
I’m primarily a long form and feature writer, but am not opposed to dabbling in shorter form stories. I’ll spend three months following a story, or I’ll spend three hours cranking out a breaking news hit. I also have experience in audio and video storytelling, from mini documentaries to radio pieces to podcasting to associate producing television news.
From June 2021 to August 2021, I worked at CBC Edmonton as an editorial assistant on scholarship. During my three months there, I worked as an associate producer for the afternoon radio show, as an associate producer for television news and a digital news reporter. I returned to CBC Edmonton as an associate radio producer in June 2022 until August 2022.
From October 2021 to May 2022, I worked at CBC Ottawa as an associate producer with current affairs radio, working with the morning and afternoon radio shows. I most recently worked out of Ottawa, Ontario which is situated on un-ceded Algonquin Anishinaabe territory. I have just moved to Edmonton, Alberta, which is situated on un-ceded Treaty 6 territory.
I love watching hockey, both men’s and women’s, so I write about it. I have been an equestrian since I was a kid, so I write about it. I love fashion and culture and social issues, so I write about those. I love interesting people from all walks of life, so I write about them, too.
I am always looking for freelance writing, editing, copywriting and podcasting opportunities, so feel free to reach out!
